My k7s5a boots fast but the Nvidia chipset boots 2x faster than it does. Looking through the BIOS information on ECS' website, it really seems like an upgrade is due (at least for the 3.X revision, which do you have?)...
If not, try another (similar, if possible) hard drive and if it does detect it fine then the hard drive may be an issue. If you all hear of a bios update that lets you change the multiplier please post. That should speed things up, especially if defrag has never been run before.The other option would be to install a fresh copy of XP. Make sure you write you write out the FULL file name INCLUDING the .ROM extention.See a real naked pic of Britney Spears here!!! I've never found defragging to speed up my system by more than a few decimal percentage points - even with major fragmentation on the drive (30-40% from time to time).

I thought once you ran the flash utility (AMINF326.exe) it would come back and prompt for the name of the BIOS.rom file. that would be a great dissapointment. maybe there is like a good batch and a bad batch, but in any case myself and many other people have this mobo randomly reset on them and it is ticking

and I think it is because the IDE on board. Also from the OCworkbench post that was included in this forum it suggested that the flash be run from the hard drive as there was possibly some corruption in the floppy none. but then again, the problem only happened on every other boot!
