I found the above FAQ very insisghtful. Try this: In BIOS, change the channel you have your hd to AUTO, for any channel you have a CD drive plugged in, set it to "Not Installed" Boot into windows, Be aware that It's not enough to set "DMA if Available" in the device manager, you need to use the utility. The thing wasn't connecting for the first two tries and I had no idea they actually went through!

K7s5a Motherboard Specs In order to go back to DMA, delete the IDE channel (where the drive is connected) from the device manager. For the most part the board is very stable and quite good...from what I've read here and other places.Mark-When all else fails, throw your computer out the window!!!
